The Bright Path

Our game called "The Bright Path" is an educational computer game ,around 45 minutes long which provides interactive and immersive experience to learn more about the topics of drug abuse, drug addiction, dangerous societal phenomena and active citizenship in an interactive, entertaining and immersive way. We recommend to follow-up with a reflection activity to discuss the choices you made during the game. 

The game is mainly intended for teenagers and young adults who do not have a deep knowledge about the dangers of drug abuse and addictions and it helps them to raise their awareness about the situations which may lead to addiction and the dangers which come with using addictive substances. The game is not intended for education of professionals in the field or university students who are experts on the subject. The game was created in collaboration with local teenagers and young adults in our community.  

You play as a young man called Rasmus, who is a  volunteer in a fictional city called „Sobercity“, which is plagued by the demons of drug abuse, drug addiction and other dangerous societal phenomena. Your goal is to roam through the city and discover local citizens, who are facing various challenges and to help them or not, but remember every choice you make counts towards shaping the fate of the city ! 

Installation instructions:

Donwload the .zip file and extract it anywhere on your hard drive, then launch sob.exe and you are ready to play ! 

The game can only run on Windows 10 64 bit versions or newer operating systems (the game does not support other operating systems), the game has the following hardware requirements:

CPU: modern 4 core x64 (Ryzen 3 series or Intel equivalent or better/newer models) 

RAM: 8GB or higher

GPU: DirectX11 support or higher, 4GB VRAM or higher (dedicated GPU is highly recommended) - we recommend at least Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050  or equivalent from AMD/Intel or better/newer model

HDD: 15GB of free space, SSD recommended

The game only supports resolutions and monitors with a 16:9 aspect ratio, starting from 1280x720, 1366x768, 1600x900, 1920x1080 and higher. If you are using a monitor with an aspect ratio other than 16:9 and are experiencing issues, go to the game settings after launching the game and change the resolution to one of the supported 16:9 options.
